Realtek High Definition Driver delivers the software that your Intel NUC audio components require.

Realtek is among the leading names in PC audio. It not only develops the audio chips that many other manufacturers use—including Intel—but it develops and maintains the device drivers that these audio chips and derived components. Note that while Realtek does make generic devices that Windows uses, this driver is designed specifically for the Intel NUC DN2820FY and DE3815TY. The Intel NUC is 4-by-4-inch mini PC that is highly customizable when it comes to memory, storage and even the OS.

Note that this is a 64-bit driver. There is far as we know no Intel NUC with a 32-bit processor. Therefore, it cannot use a 32-bit OS and no other version of this software is needed. If a 32-bit NUC is released, then it would be necessary to download the 32-bit package that Realtek and Intel would release.

This package supports all versions of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. The Intel NUC is highly customizable as mentioned even in terms of the operating system. If you are using an OS other than the ones listed above, you will have to locate the drivers for that platform and version. A generic driver may be needed if Realtek does not yet support the specific OS that you use.

Note that this update may be available through Windows Update. Additionally, there is a way to update your drivers through the Intel website. If you want to download this package, then you will need to install it manually. To do this, you will need to go to System Tools and then Sound Device. From there, you can update the driver and point it to the location where you unzipped this archive.

Intel usually provides its drivers with an installer. Advanced users may prefer to download the specific drivers, which is what is provided here. The average user likely wants a more hands-free experience and may not even know how to install or update a device driver for audio or any components.
